History of Kane Garden Surfboards
The surfboards at Kane Garden take on the inspiration of the local Southern California “Hot Rod” culture. For those who aren’t familiar with what the “Hot Rod” culture was all about, it was a time period in the early 1950s to early 1960s where car engines and designs were evolved to result in performance and classic “American” aesthetics.
Kane Garden’s shaper, PJ Johnson, carefully incorporates aspects of this culture into the brand and surfboard design. Over time, boards at Kane Garden were known for their speed, maneuverability, and versatility. Their most popular model is the fish surfboards, which was first originally conceived by Steve Lis of Ocean Beach, CA. .
Kane Garden Surfboards has always been totally committed to the fish design especially since most of us at KG still ride them! We have been involved with the fish concept from the very beginning and really believe in the future potential of this type of board so we are constantly coming up with new approaches and ideas to make them work even better!"

Overview of Kane Garden Surfboards
Although Kane Garden showcases various surfboard types, their most prominent board design is the fish. PJ Johnson shaped boards at a time when traditional longboards were past its peak, and interest shifted for shorter, lighter, and faster boards.
Kane Garden continues to push the boundaries with surfboard designs, most notably providing the best in fish surfboards.
